Bio

Coach Espinoza enters her second year as an assistant coach for the Monarchs women’s basketball program. She serves as the recruiting coordinator and assists in team academics and player development. Espinoza also started instructing as a part-time Kinesiology adjunct at LA Valley since Spring ‘22.

Espinoza graduated from Eagle Rock High School in 2014, where she is the all-time leading scorer and helped her team win the LA City Section Division 3 title as a senior. She scored 39 points in the city championship game.

From 2014-16, Espinoza attended Pasadena City College and played for the women’s basketball program where she was one of the more prolific passing guards. She holds PCC top two records for most assists in a game with 17 and 13 and holds most averaged assists in a season with 7.2 per game as a freshman. Her 346 assists are No. 2 all-time behind Kinshasa Johnson (2007-2009 443). She closed her sophomore year as PCC’s leading scorer at 15.8 points a game and added team-leading averages in assists (4.6) and steals (2.7).

Espinoza tied a school playoff record of 35 points in a Southern California Regional victory over Ventura. Chosen All-State Third Team as a sophomore, Espinoza finished her 2-year PCC career with 910 points scored becoming the school’s eighth all-time leading scorer.

After PCC, Espinoza earned an academic scholarship to Concordia University and played two seasons there, finishing her playing career in 2017-2018. She then returned to PCC as an assistant coach for three years (2018-2022), while having completed her Master’s Degree of Coaching and Exercise Science degree in 2019 at Concordia. Espinoza is now in her last school year and will soon be obtaining her Doctorate of Education at Concordia University.
