Women's Basketball Beats Canyons On Leena Vo Last Second Shot

VALLEY VILLAGE - The Valley College Women's Basketball team beat Canyons 70-69 Saturday night in dramatic, overtime fashion.

After leading at half time, the Monarchs had a rough second half, giving up the lead and College of the Canyons eventually tying the score to finish regulation time.  Overtime looked rough, also, when Canyons stormed out and took a seven point lead a couple minutes in.  The Monarchs collected themselves and worked their way back, being down by just one point.  With 12 second left on the clock, the Monarchs dribbled down looking for a last second victory shot.  The ball eventually landed in Lenna Vo's hands, who made a clutch jumper with three second left to win the game.

Leena Vo finished the night with 15 points, including her winning bucket.  Jordyn Jiron had her first triple-double of her career with a team leading 21 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists.  Dyani Del Castill had 16 points, including a couple of clutch threes late in the game to keep the Monarchs in it.

The Women's Basketball team had a clean sweet of Canyons on the season, winning both home and road games.  The Monarchs travel to Antelope Valley College on Wednesday, February 1, tip off will be at 5:00 p.m.
