Men's Basketball Wins Battle of the Valleys

VALLEY VILLAGE - Men's Basketball won the battle of the valleys tonight beating Irvine Valley College 57-48.

Freshman Sargent Jeffrey led the Monarchs by posting a double-double against the Lasers.  Jeffrey had 17 points and 10 rebounds, including seven defensive rebounds.  

The first ten minutes of the game L.A. Valley and Irvine Valley traded leads, but then the Monarchs got locked in on the defensive end.  Tweleve different times throughout the game the Monarchs defense forced Irvine Valley into a bad shot with the shot clock running down to zero.  Great rebounding by Jeffrey and quick reaction to the ball helped L.A. Valley hold the Lasers to just 48 points.

Nikko Rodruiguez also had a tremendous game offensively for the Monarchs - he had 17 points and grabbed four rebounds.

Men's Basketball's next game will be played in the new year in their first conference game of the season against College of the Canyons.  The Monarchs will open 2023 On January 4, at Canyons at 7p.m.
