Monarchs Wallop Canyons in First Game of Series

SANTA CLARITA, CA - The LAVC Baseball team walloped College of the Canyons,  16-1,  in the first game of their three game Western State Conference Series.

It was a consistent showing offensively for the Monarchs, but the explosion came in the seventh through ninth innings.  The first through sixth innings the score was 3-1 with the Monarchs on top.  The seventh and eighth innings saw the Monarch score four runs in each one, with a five run ninth to top off the game.

Four Monarchs had outstanding offensive games to lead the Monarchs to victory.  Sean David (top right) was 3-5 with two doubles and four runs batted in (RBI).  Sebastian Garcia (top left) was 3-4 with three RBIs. Oskar Stark (bottom left) was 1-1 hitting a ground slam, collecting four RBIs and scoring a run.  Vic Pico (bottom right) was 2-5 with three RBIs. 

Daniel Tovar continued his incredible year out on the mound with another win.  He pitched six innings, gave up four hits and just one earned run.

The Monarchs continue their series with Canyons on Thursday and Friday, March 21 and 22.  Both games will be played at Valley and will begin at 2:30 p.m.
