Baseball Completes Sweep of Citrus

GLENDORA, CA - Monarchs Baseball completed the Western State Conference sweep of Citrus with a 7-3 win on Monday.

After a couple days of rain delays, Valley and Citrus began their W.S.C match up on Thursday, March 23.  These match-ups were an offensive juggernaut for the Monarchs.

Game one ended with a score of 8-2 with Valley on top.  Six different Monarchs ended the game with at least one run batted in (RBI) - Royce Clayton, Jr., Sean David, Brandon Cuervo, Tino Valdez and Luis Torres each had one RBI in the game.  Max Aude (pictured), though, had the monster game.  Aude was 3-5 with a single, triple and home run - just a double shy of hitting for the cycle.  He also led the team with three RBIs.

To top game one, nine Monarchs had at least one run batted in, in the 17-2 win in game two.  Will White and Valdez led the team with three RBIs each.  Tyler Olivas, David, Aude and Cuervo all had two RBIs.  Bobby Velasco and Luis Torres contributed one RBI each.  The Monarchs were double machines throughout the route - David had two doubles, Olivas, Velasco, Aude, White and Elvis Park all had one double.

Max Aude continued his domination of Citrus in the 7-3 win to complete the sweep.  He was 2-5 with a double and another game with three RBIs.  Tyler Olivas had two RBIs on a double in the top of the fourth inning.  This game was dominated by stolen bases by the Monarchs.  Clayton, Jr. led with two stolen bases, Olivas, Park Aude, Valdez and Torres all swiped one bag during the game.

Monarchs baseball stays busy heading to Bakersfield on Tuesday, March 28 to start the series with the Renegades at 2:30 p.m.
