Baseball Bounces Back to Beat Rio Hondo, 4-1

VALLEY VILLAGE - The Los Angeles Valley College Baseball team bounced back after a loss to beat Rio Hondo, 4-1, on Sunday.

The Monarchs jumped out to an early lead when third baseman Will White (pictured right) hit in Tino Valdez to take a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.  Royce Clayton, Jr. gave the Monarchs a more comfortable lead in the bottom of the fourth when he hit in a run with an infield single, and scored a run on a sacrifice fly from Sebastian Garcia. Garcia hit in the fourth, and final run, on a fielder's choice in the eighth inning.

On the mound, Daniel Tovar got the start, going four innings giving up just three hits and no runs to Rio Hondo.  Josh Eigenbrodt (pictured left) came in and picked up the win, throwing two innings, giving up one hit and recording one strike out.  Tyler Olivas got the save for the Monarchs.

Baseball will take on Rio Hondo, again, on Tuesday, January 31, at 1:00 p.m. at the Valley College Baseball field.
