Athletes of the Week - 12/11

The Los Angeles Valley College Athletes of the Week are Basketball players Ashley Jeong and Andrew Angulo!

Women's Basketball player Jeong showed out in her 2023 home debut during the Buddy's All-Star Classic Tournament.  As a starter, Jeong scored double-digit points in two out of the Monarchs three games.  She had 13 points in the Monarch's semi-final win against San Francisco City College.  She followed up that performance with an impressive 20 point showing in the championship loss against Mt. San Antonio College.  Her outstanding performance in the Buddy's All-Star Classic earned her well deserved Athlete of the Week honors.

Men's Basketball was also in a tournament last week, the Santa Barbara City tournament, where Andrew Angulo stood out for the Monarchs.  In the first game of the tournament Angulo came off the bench to score 13 for the Monarchs.  While that showing was impressive, what he did the final game of the tournament against Feather River College took the cake - he scored a whopping 25 points coming off the bench.  His incredible performance in Santa Barbara earned him these honors.

Congratulations Ashley and Andrew!  Well deserved!  The Women's Basketball team travels to San Francisco City for their tournament over the weekend - their first game will be played on Thursday, December 14 at 7:00 p.m. against College of the Sequoias.  The Men's Basketball team hosts Ventura Wednesday, December 13 at 5:00 p.m. in the South Gym.
