Men's and Women's Basketball Finish Tournaments with Wins

Men's and Women's Basketball finished their respective tournaments over the weekend with a couple of wins.

Men's Basketball took on Barstow in the West L.A. Shootout on Saturday to finish up the tournament.  The Monarchs beat the Vikings 83-72.  It looked dicey for the Monarchs at halftime when the found themselves down 38-23.  They stormed back in the second half and scored 60 points in that half!  Kory Blunt led all Monarchs in scoring with 24 points in the game.  Justin Watson and Noah Rasdall scored 13 points each to help the comeback.

Women's Basketball beat Ventura 76-65 on the last day of the College of the Sequoias Tournament.  The Monarchs got to work early taking a 24-15 lead after the first quarter, and never looked back.  Ashley Jeong had 19 points, Laila Salazar was right behind her with 18 points and Mary Corbett had 16.

The Men's Basketball team heads to another tournament this weekend in Santa Barbara - their first game of the tourney will be played Thursday, December 7 at 7:00 p.m. against Monterey Peninsula.  Women's Basketball opens up their own tournament this weekend with a game on Thursday, December 7 at 5:00 p.m. against Rio Hondo.
