Athletes of the Week 2/13 - Jiron and Jeffrey

The Los Angeles Valley College Athletes of the Week for the week of February 13 are Men's and Women's Basketball players, Sargent Jeffery and Jordyn Jiron.

Sargent Jeffery finished out his 2022-23 season strong, scoring 27 points and collecting 28 rebounds in the final two wins against West L.A. and Bakersfield.  His most important points came against Bakersfield, though, when Jeffery hit the winning shot in the 76-73 win.

Jordyn Jiron now has her third Athlete of the Week nomination!  Jiron finished the 2022-23 season with an outstanding triple-double in the blowout, 89-53 win over Bakersfield.  She had 21 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists.  Jiron was also named co-MVP of the Western State Conference and named Second Team All-State.

Congratulations Sargent and Jordyn!  Sargent is done with his season, but Jordyn is taking the Monarchs to the playoffs - first game is on Wednesday, February 22, at 7:00 p.m. against Imperial Valley.
