
Women's Basketball Begins the Year 2-1 in Moorpark Tournament
The Los Angeles Valley College Women's Basketball team began the year 2-1 after their time in the Moorpark Tournament.
The weekend began with a loss to the host team Moorpark, 72-51. But the Monarchs immediately bounced back with a couple of wins to end the tournament.
Friday, Women's Basketball came out and beat Solano 87-76. Madison Guerrero led the Monarchs with 19 points and eight rebounds. Three other Monarchs scored in double digits against the Falcons. Laila Salazar scored 15, Aaliyah Serpas scored 12 and Gizelle Moreno finished with 10 points.
The win against Solano propelled the Monarchs into the consolation championship where they hammered Canyons 83-48. Once again Guerrero led the Monarchs, this time with 26 points in the game. Two Monarchs joined her in the double-digit score column - Salazar had 12 points in this game and Vhenus Gaoa contributed 16 points and three assists.
The Monarchs play their first home game Saturday, November 16 against San Diego City College at 1:00 p.m.
