ANTELOPE VALLEY, CA - The LA Valley Women's Basketball team beat Antelope Valley College 92-69 over the weekend.
After a tough, opening Western State Conference loss to Canyons, the Monarchs bounced back on the road with the win over AVC.
It was a complete team effort to reach the 92 points - five different Monarchs scored double-digit points for the night. Samantha Maldonado led the way with a double-double collecting 16 rebounds and scoring 14 points. Mary Corbett scored the most points, totaling 17. Madison Guerrero had 13 - Sofia Cruz came off the bench and matched Guerrero's total of 13 points. Laila Salazar and Gizelle Moreno scored 12 points, each.
This makes the Women's Basketball record 1-1 in the Western State Conference, and 8-8 overall. The Monarchs remain on the road with a game at Glendale on Wednesday, January 17 at 7:00 p.m. The Women return home on Saturday, January 20 with a game against Citrus at 5:00 p.m.
