Baseball Beats Fullerton 12-6 in Super Regional Game One

VALLEY GLEN, CA - The Los Angeles Valley College Baseball team beat Fullerton 12-6 in game one of the Super Regional round of 3C2A playoffs.

Fullerton go on the board first with a couple of well timed bunts and hits, putting the Hornets up 2-0 in the second inning.  Monarchs answered back, though, with a couple of well timed hits of their own from Will White and Tino Valdez (pictured) to tie the game at two.

By the end of the fourth inning the Monarchs were up 8-2 over Fullerton and cruising. Slowly but surely, the Hornets worked their way back and cut the lead to two in the seventh inning.  This comeback forced starter Daniel Tover out of the game. Matt Sanders entered the game form the bullpen and found himself with the bases loaded and one out - Fullerton had the tying and go ahead runs on base.  Sanders honed in and struck out the next two batters to end the threat.

Taking that momentum into the bottom of the inning, the Monarchs loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh.  Tino Valdez stepped up to the plate and hit a bases clearing triple that broke the game open for the Monarchs.  Valdez was 2-4 on the day with four runs batted in.

The 12-6 win over Fullerton eliminated the hornets - sweet revenge over the team that eliminated the Monarchs from the playoffs in 2023.  Now, the Monarchs play Saddleback in a best two out of three game series to see who moves on in the 3C2A playoffs.

Game one of the three game series will take place Friday, May 10 at 2:00 p.m. in the Monarchs Baseball Stadium.

Great job Monarchs!
