Monarchs Football Keeps the Bell Against Pierce

In Football's number one rivalry game, the Monarchs beat Pierce 20-12 and kept the rivalry bell.

Things did not look good for the Monarchs when they found themselves down 12-3 at halftime.  Football's only points in the first half came from a Daylen Ortiz 41-yard field goal make in the second quarter.

Coming out the gate in the second half, Ortiz kicked in his second field goal of the night - this one coming from 34 yards away, pushing the score to 12-6.

The Monarchs were finally able to push past the Brahmas on a fourth quarter Gavin Goulette 17 yard touchdown pass to Noah Frenkel (#28).  Quarterback Goulette solidified the win with 5:22 to go in the game with a 21-yard touchdown pass to Tevon Mitchell (#1).

The key factor in the game, though, was clearly the Monarchs defense.  Malik Simpson intercepted a ball and Tevon Mitchell recovered a fumble during the game.  Most importantly, though, the Monarchs defense held the Brahmas to zero points in the second half.

Football returns home Saturday, November 9 versus Santa Monica at 6:00 p.m.  Head out to that game early for the 75th anniversary celebration, tailgating and sophomore night!
