Baseball Beats Palomar 7-1

VALLEY VILLAGE - Monarchs Baseball beat Palomar 7-1, on a freezing cold Los Angeles day.

It was a steady game for the Monarchs who had clutch hitting and stellar defense and pitching throughout the game.  On the mound, Danny Veloz pitched six shutout innings.  He struck out nine comets, giving up just five hits and walking one.  This pushed Veloz's overall record to 2-2 on the year.

Offensively, the Monarchs biggest inning came in the sixth.  Brandon Cuervo began the inning by singling to right field, he promptly reached second base on a wild pitch.  Max Aude also singled to right field to score Cuervo and make it 5-0 at that point.  Royce Clayton, Jr. reached on a fielders choice and used his speed to steal second.  With runners on second and third Tyler Olivas hit a rocket to centerfield which scored two runs.

Tyler Olivas finished the day 1-4 with his two RBI in the sixth inning.  Max Aude was 2-4 with an RBI.  And Elvis Park was 1-3 with a home run.

The Monarchs return to the field Tuesday, February 28, when Valley hosts Irvine Valley College at 2:00 p.m.
